All educators will tell you all about the importance of talking, playing and spending time interacting with your child and that they are the pre requisites to supporting their learning in school.
The following websites will give you lots of ideas to support the development of all of these skills from.
We hope that you find the following useful to help you support your child’s learning.
‘Many little things light up hungry little minds. Kids take everything in, and even the smallest things you do with them can make a big difference’. This website has lots of fun games and activities that you can play and do with your children to encourage the early development of these skills. https://hungrylittleminds.campaign.gov.uk/
Learning to read is one of the most important skills that children need to develop so that they can access learning and be well prepared for the next stage in their learning journey. At Talavera Infant school we encourage all of our children to read at home as often as possible so that they can practise the skills that they learn in class and develop their fluency, accuracy and understanding. In order to engage and inspire the children to read we try hard to foster a love of reading and promote bedtime stories.
Oxford Owl has produced a range of ebooks that are sorted in to the same coloured book bands the children read in school. You will need to sign up for a free account and then the children will have access to a wide range of reading material at home. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/
Below you will find links to different websites that we use in school that the children can access at home to play games and activities that support your child in learning to read.
